Game Development Project - "Elly and the Ruby Atlas"
Role: Technical Artist
Project Overview: "Elly and the Ruby Atlas" is an offline Romanian RPG that invites players into a richly detailed tropical world, where they take on the role of a ship captain navigating trade, combat, and complex relationships. As the Technical Artist, I contributed to shaping the user experience and optimizing the game for smooth performance, particularly on mobile devices.

Level Design & Implementation:
I was responsible for the design and implementation of levels, focusing on tutorials and loading screens. My work aimed at creating an intuitive learning curve to ensure players were easily onboarded into the game. This careful attention to level design contributed to a 25% increase in user retention, as players were better guided through the game’s mechanics and world.
Optimization:
Given the game’s complexity, with over 20 towns and numerous interactions, optimization was critical, especially for mobile platforms. I carried out shader reviews, reduced draw calls, and optimized texture maps to enhance performance. Additionally, I implemented Level of Detail (LOD) systems, occlusion culling, and adaptive resolution techniques, which resulted in a 15% improvement in performance, particularly on mobile devices.
